The Artist's Winter
Why You Shouldn't Fear it, But Embrace it
May 11, 2026

It’s been a while.
You may have thought this whole thing has faded out into the distance, and truth be told, it almost did.
Inspiration is fleeting, but discipline transcends the peaks and valleys.
Sometimes we have to step back. And sometimes we have to re-evaluate.
For a while here, I had spread myself wayyyy too thin. Managing ArtHouse while picking up the pieces of a full feature film that had no momentum, due to many factors: the overall bear market (for movies & life), a team collapse, and finally, building the sustainable business that funds this venture…
I realize that not only is vision important, but so is the backing and execution of it. Everyone has spurts of inspiration; but what do you do when the wind dies down, and your sails have nothing to pick up?
You paddle.
So here I am, paddling.
We experimented with first round merchandise, a development team, and a launch event.. All before having the right wind to match the sails we were building.
But with the explosion of AI (specifically in the agentic coding space), it’s feeling more possible than ever to see this thing through.
A COUPLE OF THINGS FIRST:
We’re releasing our feature film, “Off Rip” to streaming. This movie is near and dear to my heart, and really is one of the reasons why ArtHouse even came into fruition.
I loved making this movie. And every moment on set that I don’t have, makes me want to get back to ones like this again every single day.
We’re also pitching our next feature, “Bot or Not” at the Cannes Market (via a friendly collaborative distribution/sales agent team). We have HIGH hopes for this film. It is a very sticky premise, and a very sellable concept.

You see, what we’re doing is not just building another ‘community’ platform. But an ecosystem. A place where you can build your ideas from the ground up, own a piece of the pie, and find the right teammates who will see it through to the end.
Working on something new? Shoot us a reply — we’d love to read a script, see a pitch deck, watch a film.
(and no, this post was not written with AI. I’m re-claiming the ‘em dash’)
Until next time,
